No. 53

EDIT: What can I say except for THANK YOU for all of our friends in Bloggerland who are so TRUE BLUE. Many of you I have met, spoken to on the phone, and many who I wish I could email as you always leave the kindest thoughts but no return email address. To those of you waiting for your children is the only reason I continue to blog. I hope no matter what chat boards you read, or rumors that try to convince you that adopting an EE child is a probable problem...THIS IS NOT THE CASE as many of us are home HAPPILY EVER AFTER.

I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH THOSE OF YOU WHO DIDN'T READ THE DELETED COMMENT IS THE POSTER DECIDED TO POST OUR DAUGHTER'S NAME. IN ERROR I REALIZED HER NAME WAS VISIBLE IN A PIC WHICH IS NOW DELETED. WE HAVE NEVER MENTIONED HER NAME AND WOULD APPRECIATE THE RESPECT WE HAVE GOTTEN FROM ALL OF OUR FRIENDS WHO HAVE ALWAYS & ONLY USED CUPCAKE AS HER ALIAS. THANK YOU FOR THE SUPPORT. WE ARE HOME HAPPILY EVER AFTER, MORE HAPPILY THAN WE COULD HAVE EVER IMAGINED. I WISH FOR ALL OF YOU WAITING TO GET HOME QUICKLY SO YOUR HAPPILY EVER AFTER MAY BEGIN!!! MOST IMPORTANTLY>>>>EIGHT MONTHS HOME Cupcake...LOVE YOU BUNCHES & BUNCHES!!!

EDIT: Instead of deleting ANONYMOUS comments I would like to comment regarding the concerns of our daugher being safe in her car seat. First & foremost...When I snap a picture of her I am not DRIVING and taking a photo. Thank you for thinking I am so talented but I AM NOT! Since we were in the car so long I removed her jacket at the prior stop and didn't realize it left so much room. After fixing her ponytail, putting on her shoes, I readjusted her belt too!

The previous photo on our way to the wedding, we were stuck in stand still traffic for many hours. When I turned to check her I noticed she wiggled out so I took a photo, climbed in the back to change her, and placed her properly in her seat. I do appreciate your concern as I have noticed many do not use the carseat correctly. However, even those of us who believe we try our hardest to make sure our children our safe, our little HOUDINIS' wiggle. I am taking the time to respond ONLY because I do believe CARSEAT safety is a great conversation. Thanks for your comments and fell free to speak up with a face and name as I do!

Surprise! We are back now that blogger is allowing me to post photos. There abre a few weeks of fun to catch on so I will start posting. This pic is from October 26 when Cupcake and I were on our to NY. We stayed with another family from our agency. One of our friends had a birthday party for Baby Nic who came home in May so we had a funfilled weekend! I iwll finish this post later

LOVE seeing that cute face. How do you manage to do anything other than look at it all day?

Cupcake is looking cute and happy! Her hair is growing quick!

That Cupcake's even more edible in person! Can't wait to see pics from the rest of the NYC extravaganza.

She is so cute! We are hoping to adopt a girl from Russia and your blog inspires me. We are near Philly. I saw the cutest cupcake slippers on Land's end and the most darling-but expensive cupcake dress on Josiekat's trunk on e-bay-reminded me of your darling cupcake!

Wow, her hair is really growing - love it! She's so adorable and is always smiling..

I can't believe that car is moving and you have her shoulder straps off. shame on you.

Anonymous said...

Yes shame on you. I noticed before in a picture of your daughter in the car seat her straps are loose. Stop snapping photos and focus on her safety. Tighten the straps. They are there for a reason.

This is for the anonymous comments....Hey I don't think that you are being fair to Lauren...DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO ADOPT A CHILD FROM RUSSIA? BELIEVE ME YOU HAVE TO RESPONSIBLE, STEADFAST AND POSSESS A STRONG CHARACTER! SINCE YOU'RE MAKING AN INCREDIBLE AND ERRONEOUS JUDGEMENT (BASED ON ONE PICTURE)I am going to assume that you are IDIOTS! You probably haven't read her story! GET A LIFE and at least have the guts to put your name down!

Honestly, I didn't even notice the straps.
What's the special needs comment about?
Happy Friday, just delete the Blogger Poopers. :)

An anonymous comment is like an unsigned letter....it doesn't mean shit if you can't sign your name.

Its okaya to make mistakes. You are a first time parent. Admit that the car was moving though. You can clearly see that it is.

What is clear to see in the picture (if you were to double click the actual pix) is that it was raining (its more apparent in the back car window) giving the backdrop of trees a fuzzy look--as if the car was in motion. Why don't you double click the picture and look at it again.

The Special needs comment is crazy and really rude. I think you are doing a great job! I think people who leave annonymous comments are special needs.

Dear anonymous,

What do you really think you are accomplishing with your snarky, vitriolic remarks? If you're not happy here, move on. No one is impressed with your unfounded attacks.

And, for someone who claims to be so concerned about child safety, WHY would you post a child's real name on the internet? It leaves her wide open for unstable people who stalk online.

Christen & Frank said...

Wow. I'd like to know who the other two anonymous people are who decided that the mature way to handle a concern for a child's safety is by insulting a baby. That is completely unfounded and rude. You must have a sad, sad life if you get your kicks by insulting someone else's kid.

Lauren - You and Cupcake ROCK! Hugs.

I am shocked at all of this. Don't people realize that this is a journal for her daughter. I print my posts and comments out to give to my daughter one day.
I agree with the comment above...move on people. This is AN ADOPTION JOURNEY and you obviously don't know the meaning of it. You can tell you are enjoying your daughter and continue to do so. You are doing an amazing job she looks so happy and healthy.
Take care
Patricia

It amazes me how many people actually take the time to look for ways to be nasty to others. If you don't like Lauren's blog, why on Earth are you hanging here? With so much apparent free time, why not volunteer somewhere to do some GOOD? Cupcake's a very lucky girl to have a grown-up mom who looks for the silver lining and tries to enighten, rather than bash others impulsively and recklessly. Are YOUR kids so lucky??

annmarie said...

Perhaps a touch of jealousy behind those posts? Bringing up a party and other happy occasions...hmmm

And my son wriggles out of his straps as well, regardless of how snug they are. Until I can stop somewhere that's how he is.

And that special needs comment? I have to be childish and submit a "fuck off."

lisa l said...

Dear Lauren,
Is the anonymous person that rude neighbour you have..you know, the one with the fountain issues?? Just a thought...seems to have the same mentality. Anyway, I took my first trip to Russia in March and we brought our daughter home in May. Reading your blog during that time gave me the extra bit of stenghth and encouragement I needed. I think anonymous should mind her/his own business...if that's possible. Many people look forward to reading about your Cupcake, seeing her smiling face and are SO VERY happy for you and your family.

lisa l said...

Hat's off to Annmarie for the 'fuck off' I guess I wasn't the only one thinking that.

Lauren,

I have enjoyed reading your blog and think your daughter is adorable! Reading your blog has helped with waiting for our referral.

To those that felt the need to comment anonymously, you must have a sad life. My first thought when seeing the picture was, oops the little stinker got out of her straps. What child hasn't snuck out of straps?

Muriel and Jerry said...

Just wanted to give you a heads up. I would never write her name to protect your privacy but her name is on the cake picture from her party if you blow it up. In case you want to remove that one too.

Sorry about all the haters! They suck!

Lea said...

Oh, she is just too much of a doll and I always smiled at the cute hair pictures and thought they were adorable. My assumption from this picture was that you took it just before or after where ever you were going. People need to learn to assume the best of others and not the worst. It is obvious that you and your family love Cupcake so much and she is a very happy child. Keep the pictures coming; we look forward to them!

Maggie said...

Oh my goodness. What in the world is happening here? A cute picture of Cupcake inspired all this nasty commenting? Craziness.

Lauren, you know a lot of us out here have your back. You're probably the most generous blogger I know and have the kindest heart. Those of us who have read your blog for a long time know how badly you wanted Cupcake and how dearly and carefully you nurture and protect her. We've got your back, girlfriend.

Lauren said...

Happy 8 months home! I never did find out your daughter's name..but I am fine calling her cupcake 'cause she is yummy like that.

This Thursday is our one year gotcha day. I cannot believe we've been home so long and that he's really ours. It's the best thing we've ever done. It was worth all the waiting and anxiety!

Lauren, I hope the negative comments some people have written do not discourage you. PLEASE do not stop blogging, your wonderful story and precious daughter encourage prospective adoptive parents so much. I know that I look forward to seeing cupcake every week and her face lights up my screen. Fairy tales do come true!
