The beginning of October was difficult. We miss our beloved Scooby. October was a busy month. The next week we went to NY to see Pinkalicious. The girls LOVED the show. Cupcake brought her best bud from home Lilly, my goddaughter Alayna, and we met her favorite girl in NJ-Olivia & the most famous peanut from Brooklyn Leila. When we arrived the night before the show we made a quick pit stop to American Girl. While walking in the City Cupcake saw Angry Bird T-Shirts in a window so matching T-shirts with Daddy had to happen. We had a blast.

The minute we arrived home she changed into a matching outfit with her Baby and then a matching outfit with her Daddy. You would think after a four hour ride she would pass out. Soon after she went digging through the AGD bags to find the sleeping bag for her Baby...good night.

The next day Cupcake had hear big trip to the Farm. They learned about the different corn, walked a corn maze, picked squash, went on a hay ride and took home a little pumpkin for Halloween.
The next weekend we did the mall & a Birthday Party. Since my mother felt left out of our trip to AGD in NY we decided to the one in Tyson's. Then Halloween and then the Christmas program at school What happened to November?

A Special kind of Puppy Love

Scooby went to Heaven on October 3, 2011. It was very sad for us this summer when we were half way around the world to recieve the call he may not make it until we return but he pulled through, tough boy! He was a fun pup who loved to swim, play ball, and entertain Cupcake for endless hours. He came into our life a couple months before we got married and Cupcake grew up with him. As sad it is to be without him, it was twice as difficult to explain to Cupcake....Her sadness S%&)*&).....Hugs & Kisses Forever!

Now I see I have missed Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's and the most important- VALENTIME'S DAY-

It is so true time passes quickly as we get older!

Two nights ago Cupcake lost her first tooth. We were at Nana & Poppy's for dinner and my mother just gave her the cutest book with a little tine with a heart. About 2 minutes after we sat down for dinner, Cupcake calmly handed me her tooth.

What happened next, I wasn't quite prepared. She lost it! The site of a drop of blood and the site of herself in the mirror with a little (I mean tiny) gap in her lower jaw sent her through something I can't describe. She really thought she looked ugly. I was shocked. We were saying and doing all we could to make her feel beautiful but she was on LOCK DOWN- didn't hear a word we were saying. Just like she was a baby I videoed and played back for her and it calmed her immediately.

Later that night she made a plan. She wrote the toothfairy a letter (can you tell we have been reading Silverlicious) and asked the toothfairy to please not take her first tooth and her favorite candy is a rainbow lollipop. Since we explained to her the toothfairy has to take something to leave her a treat- she was very worried about her tooth being taken.

Being Superhero Dad, he left dinner early to start driving around to find a rainbow lollipop.

I waited until she finally fell asleep to snatch the note from the little tin which was in her little toothfairy pillow and put a shiney quarter and a rainbow lollipop in its place.

She must of woken up in the middle of the night. I heard her whisper- Mommy the toothfairy came.

I guess she left everything under her pillow and went back to sleep.

We woke in the morning, and she screeched she left my tooth and left me a beautiful rainbow lollipop. Her face was priceless. I think I held back the tears harder than ever before! She is such a big girl.

I will post a bunch of pics real soon- as soon as we return from her surprise trip this weekend!

I was thinking if I was Cupcake reading through my Mom's Blog- what would she say....

OMG she would not be happy if she didn't see a pic of her BFF.

Since the day they turned 2 they have seen each other almost every day school was opened. School turned into camp so for the past three years of their short little lives their world has been about seeing each other. This each Kindergarten separated them but lucky them- Mom & Mom are friends so we make sure they see each other. Last week Marco & I took the girls to dinner. Since the BFF's Mom had to tend to other business they got to take showers and play before bedtime.

When the camera went up- this was the first pose. Cheers to Best Girlfriends'!

Bad Mommy!

How could I not post our first day of Kindergarten?

Since July I have been on the Kindergarten roller coaster! If I knew making such a BIG decision about where our daughter would go to Kindergarter was going to be such a HUGE decision I may have started thinking about this during the flight home from Moscow.

It is ALL me. I just wasn't ready for Kindergarten. It has been about 30+ years since I have been in Kindergarten and neither of us are in the education field. All I know is this is when they learn to read and write so it has to be somewhat important.

I wish someone would have given me a clue why we should like bottles & diapers!

Don't get me wrong- I am starting to fall inlove with Peanut Butter Sandwiches & a School Bus but it is no joke when one says "wait until they get older" Every year seems to bring BIG parental decisions- I NEED MY MOMMY!!!

Cupcake is turning five. We are getting ready for the annual Cha-Cha Bash. Celebrating the life of our daughter is the greatest time of year for us. Marco has been working endless hours the past 3 weeks building her playhouse. A little or ALOT of wood chips, a few flowers in the flower boxes, and the furniture set up inside- ALL FINISHED BY SUNDAY!

This past month has been all about the Cha-Cha bash. From goodie bags to the wedding cake every detail is in place for a great day. Most importantly all of our special friends are arriving from out to town to join us. We truly are so delighted all of our friends and family will be here.

This is the "CLASSIC CUPCAKE" I am telling you... She is getting very sneeky as she approaches 4 yrs old!

I wanted to do a quick Happy Father's Day since I am not a week late YET.

We had a great day. My father stopped by for breakfast and the three of us spent the day laying around doing NOTHING but playing with the dogs and swimming in the pool.

After we took naps we got dressed to go for Sushi. I do not know how many couples take their 4 year olds (almost four) to dinner at 8 on a Sunday night and follow up with desert at our favorite Italian hang out so we can play Botchi with Cupcake but getting home at 11:30 was no sweat for her.

Tomorrow is the BIGGEST day....

Marco and Cupcake are on their way to Bermuda for a Daddy & daughter weekend. This will be the first time we are separated for more than one night. I will miss them. I will enjoy the quiet time. I will her CRAZY. I am so happy they are so excited for their excursion together.

As much as I will miss them...I am on my way to see Kathy Griffin about 4 hours after they leave tomorrow so this will cheer up my first night solo!

So we were hanging out by the pool on Sunday. It was nice quiet time-just the two of us.

Unfortunately, my phone rang for work so I was distracted for about 5 minutes. When I looked over Cupcake was chilling out reading her book. Just as I was doing a few moments before the dreaded ring. So here was the conversation:

Mom: Cupcake want to take a dip?

Cupcake: Nah- we just took a dip and I am drying in the sun

Mom: Ok, do you want to do something (waiting to hear- THE SWING)

Cupcake: Mom, I just want to chill out and read my princess book.

Mom: Is it a good book?

Cupcake: Yeah, I am relaxing

Mom: I know Sweetheart, it is nice to have quiet time.

Cupcake: Mom, I appreciate it.

Mom: What do you appreciate?

Cupcake: I love you Mom.

Mom: I love you too. Can I take a pic of you chilling out?

Cupcake: I have sunscreen in my hair.

Mom: You can't see the sunscreen, so can I snap a quickie?

Cupcake: Do I look gorgeous?

SO I am starting to feel lazy by posting pictures and not saying much.

I guess I must confess...there are times I flip through the blogs and I look

at the pics. Not because I am not interested in what you are saying but I

love seeing how all of our children have grown, changed, and evolved from

little creatures to little people. All of you with protected blogs please invite

me!!!

My cool little Cupcake likes to have imput on what she wears. This is a new thing. New things seem cool for the MOMENT. I am not quite sure what triggered her brain to care if she wears Hello Kitty or Elmo on her booty, more annoying clogs vs. sneakers, and then the hair up or down. Endless opinions these days. I find us engaging is long conversations leaving me walking away shaking my head, laughing, almost in tears, and in deep thought. DID I DO THIS TO MY MOTHER? Boy, I know the answer. Then I find myself LOL because I know I am so lucky! Then I feel like calling my mother to say I AM SO SORRY!

Making decisions and having opinions are important. My mother gave me so much freedom to make so many mistakes I mean decisions. At the end of the day if it makes Cupcake so happy to wear her BLUE Hello Kitty panties I am so happy to allow her to do so. I am not sure yet why we have to talk about her panties from when she wakes until I drop her off at school but I will guess this will be like every other topic- it lasts for a few days and then a new one comes along.

Next time we can talk about BLUE. What is your daughter's favorite color if you have Pinkitis?

We have been busy having fun. Our good friends came down from NY to hang out before they get ready to leave for Russia. The kids were crazy cute. It really neat to hear them sitting around talking. 3 yrs old is much more fun then 2yrs old!

The next weekend we decided to do another baking cupcakes with the girls day... purple and blue was a fun day!

OMG what a blizzard we had today! It was Cupcake's first real snowstorm. As much as I do not like the outdoors or hanging out in the cold, I pulled out my ski pants and the three of us headed outside for a long & cold family day of clearing the driveway, and BUILDING OUR FIRST FAMILY SNOWMAN! Oh and when we were all finished Cupcake pulls the scooter out of the garage to ride around too.

Like a good mom should do, I got her nice and warm so we could snuggle with a great big cup of hot cocoa with lots of marshmallows! Then she crashed out and I am sitting here waiting to see if she is gong to wake for dinner...

Yesterday was a "Pinkalicious" day. Since we read the book, live in it, and wear it...Jackson, Cupcake, Nana and I made it a "Pinkalicious Day!" We had a great time. From beginning to end check out our pink cupcakes.

After Cupcake had pinkitis (pink all over her arms, face and fingers), ate a bunch of pink cupcakes, and got pink icing all over the house she took quite the bubble bath!

Daddy pulled out the dryer and played beauty shop with her.

Before March comes let me get in a quickie with pics!

We have been so busy. Jackson, Cupcake and I were in NYC last weekend for fun. From seeing The Little Mermaid on Broadway to ice skating to our last stop at Amercian Girl Place we had a fun filled two days in the city.

The pictures are a bit scattered but I am still learning how to use my MAC.

We had a great weekend escape to the Split Rock Resort in the poconos. Our friends thought they were getting the call to leave to get baby no.2 so Thursday Night the last weekend in January we decided we would meet in PA.

This place was cool. It was like 4 star indoor camping but the kids loved everything from the indoor pool to bowling, the arcade, and the indoor waterpark. Both families cleaned out their kitchens, brought all of the groceries and cooked for the weekend in our 2 bed 2 bath with living room and a full kitchen suite.

Other than the fire department coming when I made steak & eggs for breakfast on Sunday, it was a charming and perfect weekend!

Happy New Year's 2009!

What an amazing experience it was to see the skies in Southern Italy. Never had I seen such a display of fireworks. Describing it is impossible but the skies were bright for hours. The sounds were like a war. The first few minutes I flinched, almost dropped the camera, and felt uncertain about the safety of all of us. Unlike home this is not an organized display with permits, lol. We are in between the mountains and the water with views of both. Every town, village and city lights up the skies at midnight for about an hour.

Cupcake wanted more. I was hesitant she would be scared (maybe because I was?) The year started yesterday with this sudden burst "I'm Hungry," which we rarely ever hear since eating is her least favorite activity. Five small yogarts, bread & cheese, an apple, an orange would usually be two days of food but this was a snack over two hours after she woke yesterday. When nine o'clock came it was time to sit for dinner. She left to watch a movie and returned two minutes later saying she was ready for dinner. So she sat and said no no no no and no. First course was a calamari, scungilli, and other gems from the sea tossed in olive oil basil with lemon. Second course was a pasta mixed with a similiar pesci (fish) combo. Third course was a plate of swordfish, shrimp (with the eyeballs), and a whitefish of some sorts. Next was egg type of pasta stuffed with a ricotta & funghi mixture (this was really tasty). The side of grilled vegetables were great too. We never made it to the next course which is the most traditional Italian meal on New Year's which is something with pig and lentils but I am sure Catia will stuff us with it today. So after all of the "No's" Cupcake wanted her Panettone (traditional cake like bread with or without raisins and other dried fruits. After the midnight celebrations a bowl of corn flakes for a late night snack.

Cupcake's Italian leaves me speechless. Simple things she can respond in Italian like good morning, good night, I want to eat, manners, and I need help. As we venture out meeting more and more children I see she understands them a bit better and responds in English not realizing they do not understand her until I remind her. She is aware Nono (grandfather) will tell Nona and Nona will only speak to her in Italian (no choice). The other night we went out. Since she wouldn't wake we left her with Nona. When she woke she asked Nona for cookies and milk to dunk. I can only imagine how many times she asked and desperately used her sign language but no luck. Finally an exhausted cupcake says to Nona Just give me Latte & Panettone....the way the story was told to us when we returned had all of us laughing!

Today we are off to get into a little trouble!

Buon Natale from Italy!

We left Baltimore to Philadelphia by car to catch a direct flight to Rome. Finally arrived 8:30am Christmas Eve. Cupcake woke up in Rome. As the plane hit the ground she asked, Are we in It a Lee. She was an amazing traveler!

Waking around 6 am leads me back to bloggerworld. Amongst a few emails, calls, and messages.

The past year I came to a crossroads with blogging. Sharing some of my daughter's life with the world seemed a bit strange.

Cupcake and I talk alot. A matter of fact she requests that we talk from the moment we snuggle in the morning to the second I switch out the lights.

Queen size changes have occurred! I can't believe PROJECT PINK is no more. I will confess to not missing bottles or diapers.The stackers & baby toys replaced dress-up chests & Legos. The toy chest has been replaced with an arts & crafts station. The popper, fisher price house & piano are gone too. Nothing made my eyes water like watching the crib being removed and the big girl bed being set up. WOW- I am not giving up the baby blanket yet!

On our way into NYC on Thursday. We got to hang out with Aunt Reesy who flew in from LA for work but found a weekend to go shopping with the girls. Accidentally we were the first in line at Macy's Herald Square when they were about to cut the ribbons for Macy's 150th Birthday. The first 150 people got $15 COUPONS so we got them but the balloon was the prize of the day for Cupcake. After our weekend we stopped by Cupcake's boyfriend's house for the night before catchiingour flight home. They had a blast. From bubble baths to rockin' music they laughed and played until they crashed. What a blast!

Surprise, We are here with pics to share. Here is a little of Cupcake's 3rd birthday. Winter is coming quickly so I want to catch up a bit before Christmas. We are having a blast. Cupcake is doing well in school. I never could have imagined a year ago she would be where she is today. Food is always an issue for me not here. She is perfectly happy eating mac'n cheese or cereal 24/7 but I feel changes happening there too. Instead of making it a big deal I have given here enough mac n'cheese for the past 6 months to make me sick. Finally- She doesn't want it! What can I share...She is a healthy, well adjusted 3 yr old who greets everyone with hugs & smiles. Her speech, motor skills, and whatever else is at age level or above. She is loving and sweet all of the time. Gosh has she changed my world more than I could have imagined.

Where have we been? Clearly it has been to long to figure it out. I couldn't believe how long it has been since I have visited bloggerland. As i looked at everyone's blog I realized the babies we brough home don't look like babies anymore.

Cupcake is all grown up too. Everything is still ALL BY MYSELF. She is Miss Independent. She finished her first year at summer camp and has entered her second year of pre school university. They even have swim one time a week in the indoor pool which she loves. She was tested as the highest level so she will get one on one swim lessons. Swimming everyday really has helped her swim well. The kid likes to swim laps! It is quite cute to watch too.

She turned three in July. Watching her grow up, listening to her speak, and watching her interact with her friends is so incredible.

So I guess life is quiet. Tell you a few more things soon with pics.

May 2008 UPDATE:

Now I know why my mother didn't buy me the clogs I just had to buy for Cupcake (pic coming soon). Everyday it is a battle as they are her favorite shoes. Mine too but the teacher is starting to think I am a moron for letting her wear them on gym days. If she checked her bag she would find the tennis shoes!

Cupcake is all grown-up before 3 years old. Our favorite phrase is "ALL BY MYSELF" and the opinions are bold, definite, and confident. Food, clothing, and activities are a bit different than a month ago! Smart, witty and HYSTERICAL is all I can tell you.

It is hard to explain but now she can walk, talk, and share an opinion. Our lives have meshed in such an incredible way! Watching her grow and learn is so special. In some ways it has become more private too. Blogging has been difficult with such a lack of time but I wanted to share a little more. Especially for anyone waiting...I promise FOR REAl you will forget the hardships of the waiting! Every paper chase, every 10+ hour flight, every check & charge will be FORGOTTEN!!!

Looking at the date from the last post is CRAZY! I know a few needed a Cupcake fix so don't give up on me yet. My work has been so time consuming that I can not miss one minute of "Life with Cupcake" so hold your panties because Little Cupcake is just Cupcake.

One year home came and went. Before I knew what happened to me the Baby I held, bottle fed, nurtured, and loved more than I have ever loved in my life grew up. She is my baby but she is just an equisite little girl with the best sense of humor I could ever of imagined.

So for every paper we chase, for every long flight we make, for every check & charge that gets us to another WORLD to find our new world...It is so easy to forget. I have almost forgotten. In a strange way I have not blogged as it keeps in the world of adoption. Even though I am eternally grateful for all I have found in this world I have enjoyed retreating into a private little snuggle spot with my daughter. This is what it is all about!

She is speaking fluently and completely. She has tested a few otnhs advanced where 8 months ago she was a few months behind. We are working on the potty with great progress. Eating time is not so stressful and the crib has become a jungle gym.

This or That? When we walk through Nordstrom's to the cafe I can't help myself but to play dress up. Before any silly comments come across, Cupcake really likes it too. As she grabs for things you do not hear a bunch of NO's like the other moms. I try it on her, take it off, and put it back. Sometimes we take a pic as Cupcake loves to look at pics together.

We meet 3 other Mother's and 5 kids for dinner Saturday. We are a party of ten at 5ish at the Cafe. Nordstrom's Cafe is very kid friendly. Not only were the kids enjoying htemselves but they were so good all we could talk about was how amazing it was to dine with 4 two year olds, an 8 yr old, and an 8month old.

Apparently a guest didn't feel this way. The baby yelped for 20 seconds as her mother prepared a bottle to feed her. Before our eyes this 50ish yr old CRAB walks over to tell us how annoying it is for her to have to hear our children. OMG! BLAH BLAH BLAH. This woman is now not popular amongst our table. SO the manager walks by while the plans and plotting of what to say to this woman is in the works.... Quickly I repeat teh story to the manager and request that she notifies the guest to please contact management if there is any problems opposed to addressing other guests.

Last night Cupcake's school had Pajama Night. All the kids left school around 5 and came back at 6:30. Each classroom had am activity. her room is the "Bakery" so they decorated cookies but I was having so much fun I forgot to take pictures. The #2 had cars & trucks tatoos. Then there was a playdoh , sand box, stampers, cars & mats, and doorhangers & signs, obstacle course. Finally, the story telling rooom (the library) with a real Curious George & Clifford the Red Dog.

Number 3...Our first train ride to NY. See all of hte SUperstars we hung out with in The Big Apple. Special guests include Baby L, Monkey Girl, The Czar, and Cupcake!

We played with Mr. Lizard & Mr. Frog for 2.5 hours. Cupcake even shared her Teddy Grahams with them.

One month later I am posting the BEST Christmas of our lives with a quick follow up on New Year's. Since I am home sick I figured I would use this opportunity to finish up 200SEVEN. Sometimes it is hard to imagine what life was like before Cupcake but who the heck would want to imagine life without my daughter. Calm as usual Cupcake approached the tree with interest. After opening books, socks, undies, Elmo's, and other misc toys we revealed the big ONE! The Kitchen. Everyday she still enters the play room going directly to the kitchen. She loves make believe! With Nana she is a baby, with Poppy she is an airplane, and with Mommy....She is the BOSS! Where is Daddy in this mix? He is such MUSH it is RIDICULOUS! You know the "bowl of mush in "Goodnight Moon" this is Cupcakes' Daddy!

Walking into the Baltimore Aquarium, trying to catch her boyfriend who came to visit from NY...

I can't resist but to share this photo before I try and catch up with Christmas Morning & New Year's. Cupcake and Baby L (they are so NOT Babies) were hanging out posing at the Baltimore aquarium two weeks ago.

Last Friday Cupcake & I hopped on the accela to NYC. We met up with 2 blogger friends and there were 4 Russian babies who all came home in 2007. New train pics, sushi pic, and group pics coming soon!

Last night we had our 1 yr post placement report with our SW. We always enjoy her visit. We have seen her 3-4 times in the past year and now we won't see her for a year.

The time ticks much faster every year you age!

SO much has changed in the past two weeks. Our hands are so full with little girl opinions! She is really trying to catch up on the talking curve, physically she is climbing like a 5 yr old. She is so small I have to supervise. We go so high I could throw up! I found myself shoving her along as I was having anxiety to get off of this crazy climbing aparatus at Port Discovery-Children's Museum in MD. Should of followed Aunt JoJo onto the the stairs!

This past weekend we 9Cupcake and Baby L) met Monkeygirl, and Alexander at the Children's Museum in NYC. All four kids had such a blast. What a great place for 2 yr olds!

Late as usual on the posting but this time is really late. Christmas eve I picked Cupcake upi from school. One of her favorite teachers who likes to do her hair helped me get her dress so we could get to our dinner party. I wish I had a picture of Cupcakes' face when she saw the indoor pool. We went to Kathy & Bernie's house. I have had Christmas Eve dinner at their home since I was born. After Santa came on the fire truck, Dr Bernie said a prayer, Cupcake took one more run to see Santa, and we dined on the balcony (indoor) overlooking the beautiful pool. Cupcake got really CRAZY hyper for the first time. I quickly put on her coat and hat...it was time to go!

In the same neighborhood, around two corners, was another baby celebrating Christmas for the first time. A very special baby! We just had to go spend sometime with Maria, Jeff, & Baby Tyler! The children really enjoy each other. They play together, run together, laugh together. This just topped off the night. For Cupcake just pulling into their house so beautifully decorated with Christmas lights was such a treat.

THREE hours later we arrived home. I can't believe it is a 11:30 and I have to wrap the gifts. I wrapped her gifts, put them under the tree, snapped a pic, and finally fell asleep.

Hopefully I will be able to update with Christmas morning before Vvalentine's Day!

WHERE DO THE WEEKS GO? Last weekend I did a brief post on both blogs as it was the one year on December 7 since Cupcake was placed in our arms. I wanted to share the FANTABULOUS weekend we had in NY and NJ with so many friends and 2 great birthdays.

NEW YORK first...We hurried to Brooklyn on Friday to see the birthday boy & family. Most importantly it was time to stuff Elmo Boxes, hang balloons, and get ready for the ELMO DISCO PARTY! The kids had a big surprise ahead of them. About 10 we finally got the kids to dreamland, had a drink or 2 or 3, and went nite nite. Saturday we hurried and scurried to make sure all of details were in place. Daddy Leif catered this bash, we did the decor, the DJ did the hOOK UP, and about 75 people made it happen! Everyone was eating, dancing, and playing until late. When the special guest arrived (ELMO) the kids went nuts...

Cupcake got to see a lot of her friends! Other than Baby Leif, Baby Nic arrived, and a surprise visit from Ciara and Baby Mikey. It was just too much fun. They all played so nicely.

Maybe tomorrow I will catch up with Pebbles Birthday Blast...

A year ago today we landed in Moscow, Russia. We met our friends Lisa & Scott for dinner. We dined at a wonderful restrauant on Tverskoi Blvd. The name translated to "All in the Mill." I rarley talk about like before on this blog because it is about Cupcake. Last year this time (inbetween Thanksgiving & Christmas) was just the most amazing time in our lives. I hope one day Cupcake really knows our joy through every step of the three of us becoming a family!

Anyway- The day after Thanksgiving was a blast at our home. Cousin Sami came home with us. Her parents put on a fantabulous Thanksgiving for the family.

Marco put up the tree. Lillie who cam e home about a month ago had a fear of dogs which was cured when playing with Buttercup. About 20 came for a late lunch which went until 9pm. The evening ended with the best photo of Marco watching Shrek with 4 TWO YEAR OLDS!

We are so excited to see all of our friends in NY next week. Big Hugs, Big Birthday wishes, and we can't wait to come party!!!

Cupcake and Daddy started off the day together in the city for a walk at the condo and a visit to the ducks. When they got home she was still googling in her Daddy's eyes like I have never seen but she passed out until we had to leave.

Thanksgiving is the one holiday we usually do at our home but we skipped last year because we were packing. This year our cousins said they want to do it so we went to their home. Kim & Ray with daughter Samantha put on a great Thanksgiving Day for the family. It was so nice to relax!

Cupcake just loves Peaches who is Sami's bird and the guinea pig was another highlight. After running around like a nut, playing with the dogs, and knocking everything off one of the side tables. Cupcake and Sami decided...MORE so Sami came with us for the evening.

Did I mention relax? Well since we didn't have much to do I decided to give us something to do so I organized a After Thanksgiving Day Lunch @ 2. Who would have guessed our guests would be departing at 8:30ish. We had a blast!

For the first time the house was seemingly filled with laughter, high energy & babies. Four 2 year olds just changes the chemistry of the 25 people!!!

BLAH BLAH ...It was just the BEST THANKSGIVING for us, Cupcake's first, and THE TREE....I will continue about the TREE.

EDIT: Instead of deleting ANONYMOUS comments I would like to comment regarding the concerns of our daugher being safe in her car seat. First & foremost...When I snap a picture of her I am not DRIVING and taking a photo. Thank you for thinking I am so talented but I AM NOT! Since we were in the car so long I removed her jacket at the prior stop and didn't realize it left so much room. After fixing her ponytail, putting on her shoes, I readjusted her belt too!

The previous photo on our way to the wedding, we were stuck in stand still traffic for many hours. When I turned to check her I noticed she wiggled out so I took a photo, climbed in the back to change her, and placed her properly in her seat. I do appreciate your concern as I have noticed many do not use the carseat correctly. However, even those of us who believe we try our hardest to make sure our children our safe, our little HOUDINIS' wiggle. I am taking the time to respond ONLY because I do believe CARSEAT safety is a great conversation. Thanks for your comments and fell free to speak up with a face and name as I do!

Hello from New York-

I finally worked on a post from the past ten days but with Blogger having upload issues the post was quite boring without cute pics.

We met Poppy & Nana for breakfast so Nana could help us finish a list of errands without diverting to more fun things.

First, Cupcake went to the Post Office for the first time to send a very important package to our friend & Blogger friend Lisa. Cupcake and I sorted through all of her clothes and shoes to find there were many great things to pass along to Lisa's little ones' who will be on their way home soon. Finally the Huggie box sitting in the back has made it on its way to Texas.

After we went to Toys R Us to pick out some B-Day gifts to bring with us to NY this weekend. Mission Successful! Daddy surprised Cupcake at the toystore so they played while we shopped.

After running to Target, Drycleaners, Wegman's, Toy R Us, USPS, and Pannera we head home for lunch and a nap.

Great Day? Could it get better?....I get an email asking what would I be doing for lunch on Tuesday? Many of may not know but LUNCH WITH THE GIRLS could be the title of my book. I love lunch with girls. Lisa & I met in Baltimore for lunch. After 14 months it was so great to meet! Lisa, our visit was so special. I am so glad you were to spend so much time with Cupcake and I !

Now we are in NY. Yesterday we met another special blogger pal but i will continue with all of the NY post when we return!

As usual I am catching up on the past week. We had a couple of cold days so we bundled up to go play outside but we also had a couple of hot days. Cupcake went to the BMA (Baltimore Museum of Art for lunch with Nana, to the zoo with Papa (my father) and myself. Friday Night (last week we went to the Baltimore Aquarium with our friends.

Cupcake had a great week at school. A big Congrats to HEIDI in the UK who will be on their way to Russia next week. Can't wait to hear from you when you return!

Thursday, my mother watched Cupcake so I could work. In the evening they were playing on the trampoline. Cupcake fell in an awkward way so we ended up with our first trip to ER. She clearly doesn't like strangers (this new) so when the nurse did registration, the next one took vital signs, and the next took us to X-Ray...CUpcake hooped and hollared. I tried laughing, throwing her in the air and swinging her inbetween my legs to diffuse her. A combination worked well. She did well and the doctor gave us a clean bill of health with the usual "give her motrin and / or Tylenol for comfort."

Friday we planned a fun filled day at Dutch Wonderland. Maybe if I had a little common sense I would have checked the schedule to see "weekends only" but luckily the great outlets are located across the street so we did a bit of shopping, lunch and a long ride home in traffic. We went with our friends Crystal, Garrett, and baby Alayna. Traveling in style in their Mommy Mobile meant the kids watched Nemo, Robots, and a few other flicks I have never heard. Next weekend we will try again.

Saturday Marco and I decided to have an adult evening since we haven't been able to get out for his Birthday. Warning to all new parents who like to go out and a couple drinks...unless yoru sitter or parents are staying the next day too....TAKE IT EASY! So we partied like rock stars and I could not get it together on Sunday. Thankfully Nana and Poppy wore Cupcake out the night before so she had a nice long long nap with Mommy. When I recovered we did our usual outdoor activities followed by a big long bubble bath and s few nite nite stories.

Today we woke up early for breakfast with Daddy headed to work and school. Since school was closed on Th and Fri last week I am having abit of seperation anxiety. Gosh I miss my little Cupcake!

All about Cupcake...She is her usually happy, humorous self. She is making great efforts to speak all of the time. She signs and speaks. As her speech is more clear she seems to naturally drop the sign. Her new thing: Loves to sit on my make up table and have hair done..SUCH THE DIVA!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

I can't say to much or I may get mushy and cry but tonight was the most different (LOW KEY) birthday we have ever celebrated in 6 years. By far it was the most sentimental. Tonight I was the photographer, the cook, and the party planner. Tonight was a Daddy & Daughter night. After sharing in blowing out candles, eating cake, and making a beautiful mess with chocolate cake, Marco & Cupcake played a vigorous game of hide and seek followed by snuggles and cuddles with a movie.

Today I was going to do a quick post on Thursday night's dinner at Mom's. Show a few more pics of the kids. Blah Blah Blah....,

I MUST INTERUPT THIS ENTRY TO ANNOUNCE I LOST MY MIND YESTERDAY SO I HAD CUPCAKE'S EARS PIERCED. WHY? SHE WANTED THEM PIERCED. REMEMBER THE FIRST LINE...I LOST MY MIND. THIS WAS NOT A PLAN UNTIL 4-5 YEARS OF AGE. THEY ARE SO SO SO CUTE!!!

Cupcake was great through the piercing ordeal. Luckily I had Crystal for moral support. I felt the same as I do when I take her vaccines...like i am about to cry and die. We took the kids to Rainforest Cafe. After 6 hours at the mall we had to hurry to my mother's for dinner.

Happy New Year's

Last night (Wednesday) was the first of two nights that my family celebrates the Jewish New Year or Rosh Hashana. Cupcake tends to lean towards her Daddy's dislike for Jewish food. HOWEVER, the one thing you can't serve too much of to Marco is Liver Patte/Chopped Liver. In a million years I would have never of guessed this was going to be Cupcake's favorite item last night. She snickered to the rainbow cake and went back to the patte on crackers. It was too funny. As I went to serve her the first cracker everyone was hollaring this is an acquired taste-don't bother. What can I tell you...Cupcake is NOT eating chicken soup (she really doesn't like soups in general) and has no interest in beef or vegetables. The Little Diva was quite cute with her pinkie in the air while she indulged in her crackers and patte.

By now most of know both of parents have significant others'. Some have thought Larry is my father as we spend so much time together. Since I have two families to grace with our presence we started the evening at my father's sister's home. Luckily, she lives a minute away from my Mom & Larry where we finished our evening. Cupcake and I came home at 10 pm. She is still sleeping!

Here is Cupcake during our 5.5 hour ride (first pic) to Philly when we live an hour an a half away. Painfully stuck on 95N really put a damper on our trip. Torturing our 2 yr old on this endless ride, missing the wedding, and coming home in less than 15 hours from arrival didn't make for a great weekend BUT...YESTERDAY was a special day. I did post but blogger swallowed my post....HAPPY 6TH MONTH HOME CUPCAKE!

Sometimes it is so hard to believe it has been 6 months and sometimes it is hard to believe it has only been six months. We our very close to having the adoption far behind us. Do you know what I mean? No more "adoption" talk. Life has taken its normal course. I am happy to report Cupcake has adjusted and progressed to level with the exception of language/speech. She is making such efforts. Her understandable vocabulary of cat, dog, help, eye, nose, ear, more, ball, bear, baby, mama, dada, and Julie (one of her teachers) followed by A E I O U has been an overnight miracle!

Marco, Cupcake & I are having a blast. The child you wouldn't eat, couldn't swallow, and has little interest in food was quite the ham with her Mac & Cheese last night. We were singing and playing after bath time.

Below you will find our CUPCAKE Collage project for her class. No, it wasn't my idea but it was her first Homework assignment. We cut and pasted cupcake wrappers, Cupcake painted the top part of the cake pink but then we glued our family pics ontop. Only 4 families have handed in the project so when the rest are posted I will update the picture of the bulletin board.

Cucpake is at school. Maroc is leaving for work so I have to go find something to do. Talk to you soon!

So much since the last time I checked in!

Cupcake is into her third week of school. Ther children all playing together now opposed to parrallel play. She is eating well which is amazing in itself. If only I could learn to post video's I would love to share with you how she wakes in the morning. She starts signing car and go until I confirm we are getting ready to leave for school.

Everyday she stands by the door waiting for me to gather her lunch, keys, and my glasses. She is such a joy! Her progress with speech has been unbelievable too!

I think I was not interested in school or daycare because I thought it was such a privelege to be able to stay at home with her. Now I realize this is a gift for her. Even with a Nanny, the whole day is not planned around her like it is at school. Her schedule is interesting everyday. Cooking, music, art, the playground, and storytime wear my child out! She is so exhausted when we come home that she eats takes a bath and CRASHES out by 7.

Last weekend we went to Atlantic City. We travel often so hotel rooms do not impress me but this suite was SO beautiful. We met our friends (Andrea, Mario, and Baby Nic- who also came home from Russia in May 07). Our suite adjoined ot their room so I could BABYSIT! I never in my life was so happy not to go down to the casino. Last time we went I wanted to play but I worried if she woke up I wouldn't be there so this time I left Nana & Poppy at home. Cupcake, Baby Nic, and I hung out with snacks and toys!

We finished our Cupcake project when we returned so I will have to post a picture. Today when I pick her up I will bring my camera so I can get some new pics of the school too.

LAST NIGHT...After meeting my mother we went to pick up Cupcake from school. When we were driving home I started whining (YES ME NOT CUPCAKE) my car drives so terribly. Then came my tantrum about BMW's. You would think a fairly new X5 should be great. I figured after the suspension fell apart 2 weeks ago maybe I needed an alignment but I didn't know what the heck I needed since I know nothing about cars. All I know is I traded 500sl convertible (which I do sometimes miss) for a "mommy mobile" that is more suitable. Well, I am so sorry BMW- I had a blowout. It was just a flat tire! OOPS! I was in such a hurry to meet someone I took my mother's car. We live in a heavily wooded area which equates to many DEER. After 20 years of driving I have never hit a DEER but of course the one time I borrow my mother's car....I hit a DEER. Luckily CUPCAKE and I are fine.

In midst of our drama my phone starts ringing & ringing..oh and RINGING...Marco is calling to tell me we have NO WATER. Having no water no longer makes me panic as our well usually recovers in about 30 minutes if we turn off everything including all of the toilets. NOT THIS TIME MY FRIENDS. Hence the reason I have afew minutes to sit on the puter. Watson's (plumbing & well company) just arrived so after not having water for 16 hours I am hoped to be up and running by the end of the day!

What am I supposed to be doing? I am suppose to be packing so we can leave for Philadelphia for my cousins wedding. Not any wedding THE WEDDING and Cupcake's first wedding.

Having water would be great! Just for the little things like flushing a toilet, taking a shower, and washing a little clothes before you leave for the weekend.

I think this is the most drama I have ever posted!

Second day of school was a little different. Cupcake was a bit clingy as I left her this morning but she did great. I call in on my lunch break which is her nap time so the teacher is so kind to fill me in on what she has done, and how she is doing.

Everyday they provide a report of what your child has eaten, what activities they engaged, and what books were read.

When I arrived this evening she was chasing and popping bubbles after she came in from the playground. Cupcake was thrilled to see me and I was even more excited to see her.

When we came home she ran up and down the hallway like a NUT! We had dinner & bathtime. Cupcake picked out a book and went NITE NITE quicker than I could write this post.

Two more days of class for me. Hopefully Friday I will be able to spend a few hours in her classroom.

Will you believe I do not have more than a second so I will probably have to finish this post Friday but I have to tell...Yesterday Cupcake cried when I came to pick her up as she didn't want to leave. I teared when I dropped her off as she kissed me good bye and waved to me. There was no time for drama since I had to hurry to my exam.

Anyway- Guess what the theme of her classroom is this year....THE BAKERY!

We walked in and they handed her a plastic Cupcake. When I picked her up her homework included a cut out of a Cupcake for us to do a collage of pictures of our family.

Surprise! Monday morning will be Cupcake's first day at school. I just got home from collecting a pack of diapers, wipes, a blankie, crib sheet, and a LUNCH BAG. Oh my!

We weren't prepared for this so soon. Next week will be 6 months home. After having a wonderful Nanny for 6 months who happen to give us notice (last minute), we decided we want more stability than a Nanny can provide. It was great for a beginning but Cupcake is ready to rock. She loves playing with other children. We feel quite confident this will be a fantasic decision. Of course this is in theory. I am sick in my gut because I am already suffering from seperation anxiety after 4 days of class.

Living as a retiree for a few years has taught me a lot. I am so ready to get back to reality. I just wish Cupcake could remain glued to my hip. Even though we had a Nanny I only disappeared at nap times and quick errands. She primarily took care of the house.

Friday afternoon we went to check out the school. It is a posh curriculum for a two year old but my mother informed me they all talk talk talk. However the facility is huge, beautiful, and offers more than one could imagine. From swimming to music to art I think Cupcake will be well occupied.

Reality is exhausting! To all of you who wake up super early drop your kids to school, go to work or school, pick your child/ren from school, cook dinner, and tend to your spouse...you are quite amazing.

I am on Day 3 of leaving at 7:30am and not returning until 6 pm. The Nanny is here by 8 (when Marco leaves), my mother is here by 2 to greet Cupcake when she gets up from her nap.

When I get home I am so tired. My excitement to see Cupcake and hers to see me is so amazing. We just have such limited time to have dinner, bathe, and play before nite nite time for Cupcake, and Homework time for Mommy.

This is a good experience. The class is only 6 more days so no complaints here. Certainly I feel so grateful to have so much help! I just miss Cupcake TERRIBLY!

Atlantic City was a blast last weekend. Cupcake just loves the beach. When we arrived we changed into our beach attire and moved the party to the beach. We returned with a playful Cupcake. She went to dinner with us at our usual 8pm and hung in there until 10:30. You didn't see a nap in this schedule because she never closed her eyes for a minute. We took her to bed about 11pm and voila now I could enjoy the evening with hubby and our friends. OK- I was exhausted like never before because never before did I have my toddler at a casino. On Thursday (a week ago) I was feeling a stye in my eye but nothing visible. After the beach a full blown red golf ball emerged from my eye. Suglasses at dinner was attractive & the camera rarely appeared! (Monday I was at the hospital to see my doctor.) I needed clearance too to go the other hospital because on Sunday morning our friends K & D gave birth to a beautiful baby girl with the same name as our daughter so welcome " Little Cupcake."

I know some are super hung up on schedules but I am super hung up on having her with us as much as possible. Having my mother & Larry with us makes it so easy. Just won't be possible all of the time.

When we returned from AC...We found out my grandmother fell when she returned from Cupcake's party but didn't want to bother us but her pelvic area was hurting terribly. Tuesday my mom left for Florida. Since she was gone all week I haven't seen the computer much! Grandma is recovering in a rehab center, mom cooked her a full menu so her freezer is stocked, and all the goodies she wants from the house will be delivered to her room before mom heads home tonight.

Cupcake is just starting to take an interest in talking. She is saying about 10 words. She has the cutest little voice. This week the word is UH OH..UH OH.....She loves to drop something and say "UH OH" or if the dog drops the ball or if I drop the keys. I must say she kept me laughing and smiling through a week.

Also we had a special guest for most of the week. Cousin Samantha came to play. What a wonderful help Sammie was to have in the house. Most importantly Cupcake LOVES her. We took a ride to Dutch Wonderland, 2 trips to mygym, a little shopping, and a trip to the 31 flavors.

Last night we did dinner at my dad's & Leslie's. I never knew there was such a great playground at the corner so the girls took a nice walk after dinner and we played on the playground.

The BAD NEWS...I need to take a class. The best way for me to take it is crammed into 2 weeks. Starting Monday I will have class from 9-5 for 2 weeks in Columbia, MD which will take about an hour each way to I will gone for 10 hours a day. I will not see little Cupcake for 10 hrs a day. I guess I am going to get another box of kleenex because I think I am going to DIE! Week one not so bad since my mom will be here but week two Mom goes back to work. ARRRGGHHH- I know only two weeks!

Happy 5 Months home! Here is Cupcake...Last one off the dance floor last Sunday. From chasing balloons to trying to line dance with the big girls she didn't stop for hours.

Today she went on the pottie for the first time so we were doing a pottie dance and Marco gave her a balloon.

We just finished packing our bags to leave for Atlantic City. Old habits die hard. Now we just have to get a second room for my Mom & Poppy!

Monday we have to Fedex a our PPR so it isn't late for Russia.

As usual I am about 10 days behind. I just can't figure out time management with Cupcake because I just want to play with her and her toys all day!

Nono, Nona, Cupcake, & I went to Dutchwonderland 2 weekends ago. We met Tiger & Prince there too but all the good pics were taken with the waterproof disposable. Cupcake is signing "more" for more duck food but Mommy ran out of quarters so we headed to more rides.

The next day I gave Cupcake her first pedicure while we sat on the potty. Yes! She handed me the little potty seat to sit on the big potty so while I made sounds to encourage her to go potty I polished her toes.

When we returned from Russia our friend Kate, who we miss so so much, sent this cute Hanna Anderson outfit. I called Kate in March to tell her it was so cute but I think it will not fit her until she is 4. Well Kate, I was wrong! It may be getting short soon. I just love it!

After ,we headed to a really cute birthday party. They stuffed monkeys with cute t-shirts that said HBD to the birthday girl. One of my mother's little girls from her kindergarten class invited Cupcake. She had a great time.

This past week we played and spent most of our time swimming so I will not bore you with anymore swimming photos but she is doing so well in the water.

By the end of the week we were at the doctors with a fever. Originally I thought Cupcake was developing some sort of allergy. She was scratching her nose until there were scabs, YUCK! Then came the fever so we stayed in for a couple of days.

This past weekend we went to another party for the 40th of a relative. There are some cute pics of Cupcake circling her grandparents while they dance but I just don't have patience for blogger this evening.

Tomorrow Nono & Nona leave for Italy. After three wonderful weeks it is time for then to return home. We will miss them!

This morning started with doggie accidents and bad attitudes from big bad DAD as he was about to strangle the dogs. BOY DID THEY DESERE IT! I just couldn't believe my eyes when I saw what they did in Cupcake's playroom. I don't even remeber the last time they behaved this way. To say the least our Nanny spent the day disenfecting every nook and cranny. The room looks great but following this episode the BAD NEWS...

She is moving on after 6 months of working for us. If she works for her university our good old government will give her a visa. We can't compete with this one. She has been so lovely to have in our home but more importantly Cupcake adores her.

The good news..Nona (grandma) says she can come back for a few months to help us until we figure out our life. However we know this is limited to the 3 month visa. After she unpacks she can repack and turn around- We feel so lucky!

Today was a MONDAY! Looking forward to Tuesday! (Can you believe they are 68 & 70?)

Cupcake loves her Poppy. Poppy is my mother's husband. After seeing her at a friend's house on a swing & seeing her bawling when she was taken off, he decided to build a little swingset for her. He worked hard in the heat for Cupcake. My parents spend an enormous amount of time with Cupcake.

Marco's family lives in Italy so they do not get to spend the same amount of time with Cupcake but let me share with you a few pics as I did when her uncles were here last month. When they are here, they are all about family time, quality time, and ALL ABOUT CUPCAKE. "Nono" (grandfather) does not miss a waking second with his grandaughter. He loves her to the core. He speaks, reads, and plays with her until she passes out (at 70, you would think he would pass out with the way they play).

He doesn't miss a meal or an activity with Cupcake. When he went shopping (which he rarely spends money) he bought 2 picture frames for me to put pictures for him to hang when he returns to Italy. He marveled in her Maryland State Birth Certificate since he knows this means we can now get her passport so she can come visit him.

They enjoy one another. I enjoy watching them. It brings back the wonderful memories of my grandfather who loved me to death! It has been a long 3 years without him! I am so happy Cupcake has 3 loving grandfathers!

The last Hoo-RAHH as Cupcake's birthday ends this evening. Tiger & Prince gave her the Happy Birthday Hippo that sings.

Today the last gift came from a special friend. What an exquisite Madame Alexander doll! "The Russian Ballerina" I do not even know what to say...Thank you for the special treasure! I know Cupcake will grow up to appreciate her beauty.

My mother baked Cupacke the same Bunny cake she made for me when I was 2. She also cooked dinner for the 7 of us, brought it over, adn served us with motherly love as ALWAYS! Thanks Mom! Everyday I wish I can give Cupcake everything you gave to me! Spending this evening together was really special!

Tonight Cupcake blew out her birthday candles AGAIN with such happiness. It is so cute when she sticks her fingers right into the cake and licks the icing off!

Hmmm... What is she going to think when she wakes tomorrow and doesn't hear her "Happy Birthday" song?

First- A special "THANK YOU" to all of our friends and family who made Cupcake's 2nd Birthday Party the best day EVER!

A very very special "THANK YOU" to our friends and family who traveled so far to be part of this celebration.

We just want all of you to know how much we appreciate your love, friendship, and support.

Just a few pics until I get organized. Most of all the "people" pics we just got back yesterday on disk from all of the desposable cameras on the tables. Last minute I had to run to the store and found 18 dozen of these colorful daisies. After we picked up the U-Haul to get the 200+ balloons. Two grandmothers, two grandfathers, the best Aunt, and a mom & dad finished the last minute decor until the party began.

Twenty-three beautiful kids (12 from Russia) , about 95 guests in total from noon until 10pm, a fabulous caterer, and an absolutely DELIGHTED BIRTHDAY GIRL made for a perfect day. Ahhh--ONE REALLY BIG SURPRISE from a super awesome terrific Dad. I had NO CLUE about the clown, magician, and face painter but my husband out did himself with this huge surprise. Everyone loved the show, the kids were goo- goo for the painting, and it just topped off the most perfect day with more fun & laughter!

After lunch we did the "happy birthday" to a beautiful tier of 40 cupcakes.

After dinner we did a BIG "happy birthday" to Cupcake!

Tomorrow Cupcake will officially be 2.

Thursday evening the tent was delivered & set-up.

Cupcake received her first birthday gift from a blogger friend. Thank you Macy...Cupcake can't stop playing with the magnetic doll. When I put her milk in her regular cup, she walked away into her playroom to get the one you sent to her!

In the midst of a million details to be completed by noon tomorrow, we took Cupcake to get her picture in her Birthday Dress...

So..Nono and Nunzia arrived yesterday from Italy. Aunt Reesy flew after Grandma so we plan on waking early so we are all ready for Cupcake's day of fun. We are expecting about 12 Children from Russia. We are excited to see all of you.

Cupcake is now accostumed to watching me run back and forth through the hallways of our home to locate sunglasses, cell phones, wallet, and a lipstick. She is patient and funny. All she wants to know is "Are you ready yet?" and "How many pics must we take before we leave?" Here is what I have to say to you Cha-Cha..."for the millionth time this week I will tell you I LOVE YOU SO MUCH I COULD YUM YUM YUM YOU all day! You are so well-behaved, you are so FUNNY, and I will be Kookie for the rest of yoru life!" Most importantly this is the last of your 1 yr old pics. Next week...How old are you going to be? TWO! Good Girl!

Keeping Cupcake's social calendar is a FULL-time job. Inbetween swimming twice a day, mygym classes twice a week, playdates, and planning her Birthday Bash I am almost exhausted. Did I mention Marco's family is on their way for the Birthday Celebration so we will again have company for 3 weeks (even though they are not really company it is still more people to entertain).

Here are the plans if I survive the final details:

Noon on Saturday Cupcake's Birthday celebration will begin with Veggiepower, turkey club, and roast beef & swiss wraps. An assortment of sides and snacks with juice boxes & water. About 40 adults and children will be swimming and playing. We will wrap up the afternoon with a lively "happy birthday" song over a tier of 40 Cupcakes (what else?)

At 4 pm the tent will come to life with appetizers (coconut chicken with a mango chutney, swedish meatballs, asparagus & brie in filo wraps, & fruit.

The dinner party for about 75 lovlies will include a spread of chicken marsala, rice pilaf, lasagna, salad, assortment of breads, and a 3 tier surprise cake.

Flowers, balloons, goodie bags, linens, etc are in check!

Here is what I do not have done the music:

Any and all suggestions for day and night music would be fantabulous. I need to be able to down load off the internet to the ipod for our sound system.

So there you have it. Cupcake, Nana, and I have been planning the Birthday Bash! Next week PICTURES in the birthday bathing suit and birthday dress!!!!

Oh Cupcake- In 4 months home you have become more spectacular everyday. Your sense of humor makes me laugh more than one could believe. When you make your silly faces I can't stop cracking up. Your swimming like a fish, you love to play with everyone. You share incredibly well. The compassion you show when you hear babies crying is so sweet. Your puppies love to see your sparkling face every morning. Your Nana & Poppy think you are the cats MEOW.

ONE WEEK AGO...(so I am a bit behind) After blueberry waffles & a packed bag we went to meet the Prince & Tiger at Dutch Wonderland in PA. The kids had so much fun and so did Laura & I.

Sunday we woke and went back with Cupcake's girlfriend Irenee. Thursday we went back with Tyler. More pictures to come. Our whole week was basically "Dutch Wonderland Week."

Cupcake is growing, changing, developing opinions (sometimes too many), and acquiring a crazy good sense of humor. She just cracks me up all of the time. Her yummy kisses and belly laughs rock my world in a way I could never have imagined.

I am still exhausted, not in as good of shape as my almost 2 year old, and have not mastered getting pretty (define:taking a shower, doing my hair, make-up, and getting dressed) as quickly and efficiently as I need with a toddler. Solution: ponytails, jeans, and T-shirts!

Since we have had Cupcake's COC for over 2 months it was time to go to Social Security to get her s/s#. Since my mother and I both have not gotten new cards since we were married... we all took a number. We have delayed this matter because our SS office is not in such a great area. always crowded, and just not a nice place to go. We checked online to find there was a newer office right in our little town. We walked in and out in 10 minutes. Thanks SS for having a nice office in the burbs with compentent employees who respect time!

Lastly- Our finals pics from our weekend in , and NY. J is practicing for 2 (J- you make it look easy!), and Cupcake is lounging in the hammock.

To continue our weekend we (Cupcake, Nic, Andrea, & I) went to visit another friend on Saturday. We were set for an early morning playdate but didn't arrive until 1. Cupcake and I kissed the boys good-bye on Thursday as they departed for Atlantic City. We decided to go on a road trip to visit a few friends. We arrived at Andrea's and Nic's ready to play on Thursday night. Cupcake is a GREAT travel buddy.

We sang songs, ate choc chip cookies, and took BRIEF naps for 3 hours. We woke up got ready to swim just like we were at home! Later we had a couple more surprises when Bam-Bam & Pebbles came to visit. After a fun filled day with 4 kids Andrea and I had a little dinner party with another blogger family!

Saturday we went to visit another family who lives close-by. More pics and the rest of the weekend coming soon....

Late Friday night Ann-Marie & Zach came to join us! It was so great to see them. That time next week they will be on their way to St. Pete's to bring home Baby "Bee"!

So Cupcake is in heaven as all three of them dote on her every move, giggle, and demand. She has all three wrapped around her tiny pinkie! The boxes came, the three of them got the tools, and made it happen quickly. Of course when you have Cupcakie running from rim to rim scarring the heck out of you, the pressure to get the enclosure is outrageous. If I could only post the video of her tantrum! Finally Daddy said TAKE HER! I am always the bad guy taking her out of the bath, pool, hot tub, and NOW the trampoline. The neighbors are going to think I beat my child!

After we came home from lunch daddy put Cupcake where she was aching to go...Back on the tramp.

Monday, June 10, 2007, I forgot to post as I intended but it was a special day but Friday the 14th is too. It has been 3 months that Cupcake has been home and Friday will be 4 months since we have been Mommy & Daddy.

Uncle Pietro & Paulo are flying in from Italy today but hanging out with Marco in Atlantic City. Friday they will finally meet Cupcake!

Cupcake and I went to the doctor for a check up last week. She has grown 1.75 inches, putting her standing at 30.75 inches. Six weeks our little daughter is sprouting. A weight gain of 2 lbs, Now 22.5 lbs. Just 2 more lbs of yummy chunks to squeeze and tickle.

We are swimming a lot, relaxing a bit, and starting to plan the Cupcake Bash!

So the first morning we wake up. I put Cupcake in her stroller which is doubling as a high chair. Do you guys know what this means? It means I want my ponytail and a clean dipey...BEFORE I WILL EAT!
The next pic is a protest. This is when cute little Cuppycake whines with croc tears as she would like to proceed to the pool. She doesn't quite get I need to get ready too!

I came out ready to go so I said " let's go SPLASH SPLASH- KICK KICK, Big smiles to this one!!!We finally make it to the pool but before I can even warm up I have to hurry in as she just JUMPS!

Finally, our flight home I was a bit nervous as she was not looking very tired. Figures it is our first flight without an empty seat next to me for her. I had this brillant idea to lay her down on my legs to play. Well she crashed out for 90 minutes! Boy did my foot burn and my legs ached from holding them up for most of our flight home OUCH!

Tuesday night Nana & Poppy came over to say "bye-bye" to Cupcake before her first weekend getaway. They brought dinner and played with Cupcake. She had a blast. The waterbaby refuses to come out of the bath, hot tub, or pool!
The next pic is Wednesday morning 5:30am (look at the bow!). Cupcake is ready to rock to the airpost. What an angel she was on the plane! After arriving at Grandma's we suited up and off to the pool.

Cupcake and I are leaving tomorrow for Florida to visit Grandma. We are almost ready to have a little fun in the sun with Aunt Reesy too.

When I went to get the mail there was this little box. In the box there was this most adorable bow with a CUPCAKE button. Thanks again Tracy! Tracy is on the blogroll under "Rhyne & Jake." I am waiting to see if there is a website with her great bows. When I get it I will post it.

The funniest thing is it completely matches Cupcakes outfit on the plane so when I return I will post the whole outfit!

What a fantabulous weekend! Maria brouhgt over baby Tyler, and Laura & Rich brought over the Prince & Tiger. Andrea, Mario, and Baby Nic stayed for the weekend. Four super happy families couldn't help but notice all of the miracles in the room. It was so great to see how awesome they all played, ate, and LOVED to find their Mommy's!!!

Here are the pics first for a change, lol.

We made it to MONDAY! A little runny nose, a cough, and big smiles but we have made it! SO what do you do with your sick child...Well my husband thought putting her in the trash can ( a new one )would be funny. Yes, she thought it was funny. I almost had a heart attack. As I go to take the picture she stands up and almost falls over with the trash can. Luckily Dada to the rescue. He caught her, I almost cried, and she laughed her booty off!

Her PONYTAIL- Do you see it is flopping over? There is no more signature Cupcake tail standing straight up!

Everyday I am seeing her grow so fast I am amazed. The past week her play has even changed. She goes right to her play area, does her stacker, a puzzle, and her magnadoodle without me putting them in front of her and helping her. She used to need me to hold the stacker, show her where the puzzle pieces go, and place the magnadoodle pencil in her hand. My independent girl is doing so fantabulous. I might cry as soon as she doesn't need me to pick her up to put her in the tub. Then I will lose alot of status in her book!

How appropriate to be entry #13! Oh where, oh where has my little Cupcake been all week? Wednesday late afternoon Cupcake had BRIGHT PINKY cheeks and by nighttime had 103.5. Oh my- someone forgot to tell me sick babies are no fun and NEED so much love. This was our first REAL sick moment together. As usual emotional NEW mommy wondered was she ever snuggled, cuddled and given loving baths all through the night. Why do I think about it? I am so happy I could jump, skip, hop, and RUN to Cupcake's every need. She is so sweet, loving, and accepting of every kiss. Every little drop of love she gets she returns ten folds. I beg her not to give me anything. Just to wake in the morning to receive her smile, or watch her grab my legs as she sprints to me when I get home is so PRICELESS. Two and a half days of a whiney, crying, uncomfortable, and frustrated baby may have petrified me this time last year but I felt privledged to have my sweet little Cupcake all snuggly and lovey to nurse back to health. Today she was faking being better so I didn't take her out. She was trying so hard to be well, smile, and play but she just couldn't function without a little sleep.

Today was the first morning I wasn't there when she woke. It was WAY MORE difficult than expected. Unfortunately I had to leave for court by 8:15 and she didn't wake until TEN. YES TEN! Sleeping beauty always likes to sleep but she has had some serious beauty rest during recovery.

Bad news no pics. Neither one of us are fit for the camera but hopefully this weekend will bring normality.

After having a wondeful lunch with Lizzy, Tracie, and Jordie...We headed to our first time to KINDERGARTEN! I mentioned before in the other blog we visited my mother's 4th grade class but I may not have mentioned my mother teaches kindergarten too. Oh BOY did Cupcake have a blast! Also my mother's children are so sweet! We can't wait to visit again!

Arriving in the US on March 10th, we celebrated 2 months home with Cupcake yesterday. We had so much fun and I think she did too!

I will post a bunch a pics from yesterday and Wednesday but it is now 8:45am so I am going to wake Little Cupcake so we can go on a shopping marathon to get stuff for Sunday lunch and cards and presents Mother's and Grandmother's.

Have a Happy Mother's Day and a Wondeful weekend. I know no matter what this will be the BEST Mother's Day in this household!!!

Today was the first day we were bottle free. Cupcake didn't seem to mind to much. She loves Special K with strawberries, spaghetti O's with meatballs, yogart, fruit, and FRITOS. I can not believe my child is eating so much JUNK! My mother NEVER fed us junk. I do try to make fresh veggies, and chicken in the blender but NO WAY!!! I am just so happy to see that she realized she has teeth and can swallow. A matter of fact we have Early Intervention coming on Thursday for her evaluation but this was my main concern. The past week I have seen her change so much. She is more expressive! The girlie diva attitude is in 3rd gear gear, and the personality is sparkling. Sometimes she seems like such a 12 month old but other times she is such a big girl.
When I put her to bed we slow dance for a song or two to Baby Einstein's Mozart. When we get near the end I hold her straight in front of me whispering sweet dreams to her. When I said I LOVE YOU, she gently puckered and kissed me. It was so cute I started to tear. Of course she will give me kisses ANYTIME I ask but after we me saying I love you so many times after she kissed me- it triggered the most special kiss EVER! OK- I am just so goo goo gah gah for my little Cupcake. If I tell her she a few more times she is the most perfect baby in the world and she can do nothing wrong- She may start to believe me, LOL.

It was a big week for Cupcake. I wish I found a minute to blog more often. I still can't figure out where the time flies!

Monday We met my friend Margaret for a walk in the park in the early AM. I went to work for a couple hours. I started working at my father's office. She barely knows I am gone. After I put her down for a nap I RUN. I come home about 2 hours after she wakes. Marco and Soledad are here so she has fun!

Tuesday we went to lunch with my Grandmother and took Cupcake for her first ToysRUs outing. She had fun but we had a better time. She started to take a nap on one of her toys so it was time to go. Thanks for the cartful of toys Grandma. Want to take me to a jewelry store next week?

Wednesday we went to the new park near our home. It was reall nice but she pulled this crying stuff when it was time to go so I asked her if she was joking and kept walking to the car. Oh yeah- since she is the BIG SHOT walking girl she likes to run further when I call her but she loves to hold hands too.

Thursday we ran around shopping and it was the first day we had only ONE bottle for a meal (breakfast). We went to play with Sophia and her new puppy. Uncle Daniel came in to play and meet Cupcake for the first time so this weekend was going to be FILLED with shopping.

Friday- Of course we shopped all day with Uncle Daniel. We played outside and went shopped a bit more!

Saturday we went to Best Buy (YUCK!) but Dad really likes it. After we all went to Bertucci's for pizza and Cupcake played with her ravioli. I think the BEST part of going out to eat (even though I do prefer to cook) is Cupcake can destroy the floor and I don't have to scrub it again, lol.

This morning Cupcake had her first Birthday party at "My Gym." Her girlfriend Irenee turned 2. She didn't want pizza, cake, or to sit adn the circle and play games but she would NOT get off the trampoline so it is time for Mommy and Daddy to buy one- 911!

So last night was the first night WE went out since leaving for Moscow February 9, 2007. My Mom and Larry stayed with Cupcake which is GREAT because NO ONE else is staying with our daughter for a very long time EXCEPT for them. We went to a cocktail party at Lizzy & Cousin Ruby's. We had a blast. It was tough to swallow that I wasn't bathing and putting my daughter to sleep. The first time I didn't hug & kiss her before she went to sleep. I KNOW she doesn't mind but I did feel like I was missing out.

This morning the 3 of us had breakfast and enjoyed the beautiful weather on the deck. We came in to give Cupcake lunch. After lunch she was just walking around the house. For the first time EVER she made an effort to play with Buttercup who is our female lab (Scooby is the male). Here is a pic of them together.

Where do the weeks go? How could my last post be on Monday? What did I do all week? All I know is everyday I feel like we utilize every waking moment but I can not account for our accomplishments. We did surprise Marco at the condo which is a second home in the city that Marco is renovating. Cupcake is walking beautifully and soon to be jogging. She ate her first egg for dinner tonight. Yippee one more thing I can get her to eat but she was hunting around for a bottle. We are down to 2-3 bottles a day which is better. Her cute little sounds crack me up and her addiction to the bath gets me so excxited for the pool to open in a couple of weeks.

Her favorite toys this week are her Puppy (which goes with the FP house) and New book ( by Vtech)which reads the nursery rhymes to her (2 thumbs up from me!) and her new classic car from her friend Baby L- OMG it is soo CUTE!

Saturday's adventures were a BLAST!!! Cupcake and I went to visit Laura, Tiger, & The Prince. Often I joke we are a little country but only 10 miles outside the city but we went to the COUNTRY! Cupcake had a blast. She loves The Prince and Tiger. It is nice to see 3 sweet children play all day together, on their own, and so QUIETLY! Of course the girls don't talk much but they make their points! Since Cupcake has a Mommy who is not so outdoorsy it was really great for her to see Tiger's sheep, sit on Laura's horse (Spanky), play on the trampoline (she was in heaven), and go for jeep rides with The Prince.

When we get home I am so excited to show Marco the 45 great pictures but he became fixed on Cupcake going for a ride with an older boy. I set him straight quickly! This is THE PRINCE, he made sure Cupcake was safe!!!

Anyway, on our hour ride home I explained to Cupcake we can't have horsie's, sheep, or anymore animals but our 2 dogs because Mommy and Daddy are too irresponsible. We reached our maxium responsibility level with 1 baby and 2 dogs. Oh- I forgot to mention we do not do the outdoors well either!

Confessions of a new Mommy...I am tired a different kind of tired. One I am learning how to deal with! Maybe a little more than usual since I have been sick for a month but a 18 month old can really tired out a 35 year old! Cupcake is learning so much. The first pic is "Where is your Belly button?" and she is with both of my grandmother's. I am not sure how many photo opportunities I will have with both of her Great Grandmother's since one lives out of town
This was priceless! These pics are from last week but as you know I am ALWAYS behind these days!

Now let me tell you a bit about Wednesday. I swore a million times I would never talk about POO. Why talk about POO? I can't stand POO talk. I am not a big fan of diapering and look forward to potty training.

Anyway, after 20 minutes I her Cupcake cooing and googling in her cute little voice. Very strange when she usually passes out. I run up to check on her and notice smears of BROWN on her beautiful pink sheets. I had NO CLUE what I was about to walk into. NO ONE EVER TOLD ME ABOUT THIS!!! She is a MESS! I grab her up carefully in fear of an overflowing diaper, then I stand her in the tub, and proceed to hand bathe her with wipees. YES a whole pack of wipees as the bath is running. I sit her in a shallow tub as I am anxious to check out her room. OMG OMG OMG- 911 please help! My daughters baby bumper, linens, blankies, and stuff animals have been attacked by POO!!! Tears are streaming down my face, my child is in the tub, and I am stuffing everything in a garbage bag. Quickly I change her linens, wipe down her bed, find a new collection of stuffed animals, and blankies. I run back to the bath as I have been running back and forth every 5 seconds worried about leaving her- I rush back to shampoo Cupcakes' hair, and give her a final soap down. Now she is shiney clean and so is her room.

Let's try again. Now she is comfy clean she goes right to sleep!!! So sorry for talking about POO but I may need therapy!

Thursday was a great day ALMOST! See Cupcake's face below- this is how she was ALL DAY! She decided she was going to refuse a nap and Mommy was to weak to protest after yesterday. We climbed Up and DOWN the stairs a few times, played her piano for a few hours, threw her blocks and stackers all over the room trying to acheive the loudest BANG on the floor possible, we sang head and shoulders a few hundred times (Cupcake's request) and Pattycake followed by Where is Thumpkin a few million times. So my precious little Cupcake is doing great but her Mom is a bit gray, slightly exhausted, and could really use some sunny days so we can get out a bit more and play!

What is better than waking up to your childs face covered in a runny nose, pink cheeks, and glassy eyes as you are hurrying out to the doctor to get the results of your labs for TB, HIV, & everything else under the sun since it isn't normal to have high fevers for 3 weeks.

I just wanted to cry. I think I did in the car. I changed her, washed her, fed her, and left her with Solidad and Marco but Daddy doesn't count when the market is about to open! Meanwhile I probably gave my daughter something terrible too.

The good news is I was cleared for TB, HIV, thyroid, iron, potassium, Hep, and whatever else, but not cleared on possible pneumonis because I didn't make it to radiology for chest x-rays. Hopefully I can get into somewhere tomorrow. The doctor ordered another set of labs since she thinks they don't look good but if this isn't enough she gave me another form for another set next month too!

After being gone for an hour- I was rushing home to Cupcake as I wanted to be with her so badly! She giggled, cried, and gave a quick hands up to me as I walked in the house. She made my day! I wasn't sure if she was going to look at me after abandoning her this morning! We went upstairs and snuggled and wiped noses all day until my Mom came to help. We gave Cupcake a bath, a warm bottle, and played. To bed she went to bed at 6:30 as I am prepared to see her pink little face, and runny nose in a few hours!

Another great Mommy moment- Cupcake's Daddy informed me while I was sprawled out hogging the bed last night- I slept through my daughter's wailing and bawling for her Mommy! OMG OMG- What did you do? Why didn't you wake me? Hmmm- I changed her, washed her face, and held her until she was ready to go back to bed. Forgetting to share your child with your spouse is NOT NICE!!! He is SUPER DADDY! He may not be available for an hour in the morning but Mr. Nightowl really is so impressive with his daughter!

Today Marco brought in the mail as usual. He handed me the BIG YELLOW ENVELOPE. I smiled and handed it back to him to open carefully since carefully and Lauren do no usually go together. Cupcake's Certificate of Citizenship arrived. After I edit her name and personal info I will post it.

Today was the first day I have felt like myself but it looks like Cupcake and I need to get X-rays to clear us for pneumonia. We should know by next week.

Our daughter is WALKING! Really walking. She is walking so much she is wanting to eat more too.

Most of you may or may not know but Cupcake protests food as she is addicted to her bottle. Do you know how many people want to give me advice on why I shouldn't hold her like an infant and feed her? TOO MANY!!! The past week she has been super adventurous. She has eaten a few bites of banana, strawberries, mac & cheese, PB&J, and mashed potatoes. She doesn't enjoy it but she is exploring. It just isn't enough to call it a meal so after we play around she gets her big PHAT 12oz bottle with a Gerber fruit, rice cereal, and whole milk. When her belly is about big enough for her to tumble over she usually pushes the bottle away.

Today we met my father and Leslie for lunch. She was giggley as usual and played with aother child. Whenever she sees children she is very sweet and friendly. Then we went to the grocery store. You know what you see at the store about 2pm? A million mommies and babies!

We came home so she could have playtime, dinner, and a bath so when daddy comes home she can play until bedtime. I would like to end with happily ever after but an hour later I hear SCREAMING and BAWLING....RUN FOREST RUN! SO I run to her to console her. Marco suggests I make her a warm bottle. The baby was STARVING. Did I feel horrible putting our daughter to ed starving? YESSSSSS - ARGGHHH , I really felt badly. After her bottle she went to sleep like a yummy little Cupcake!
